Patrick J. Cornell rode 147,284 documented motorcycle miles within the United States between leaving home on May 1, 2025 and returning to his primary residence for the first time on September 25, 2025. All qualifying mileage was ridden within the lower 48 states, and mileage incurred while the disabled motorcycle was transported by trailer on two occasions was not recorded by the motorcycle and was not included as ridden distance.

Summary of Claim

Cornell originally described this achievement as his longest continuous ride in a single country without going home.


During adjudication, Atlas refined that terminology.


The evidence disclosed two instances in which the motorcycle was transported by trailer while disabled or being repositioned: Baton Rouge, Louisiana to New Orleans on Day 17, and Anderson, South Carolina to Newport News, Virginia following the Day 73 accident.


Those miles were not recorded by the motorcycle’s odometer and are not part of the 147,284-mile metric.

Because the word “continuous” could incorrectly imply that the motorcycle itself was ridden without any interruption or non-riding transport, Atlas elected to certify the objectively measurable fact instead:

the greatest documented mileage actually ridden on a motorcycle within one country before the rider returned home.


Cornell confirmed that he first returned home on September 25, 2025, at which time the motorcycle showed 147,284 miles.

Evidence Submitted

Atlas reviewed:

  • Spotwalla GPS tracking covering May through September 25;

  • the independent 72-, 100-, 125- and 146-day endurance certifications;

  • the September 23 certificate establishing 146,788 corrected miles immediately before the return-home phase;

  • the claimant’s September 25 odometer photograph showing the final return-home mileage;

  • route and location records;

  • Cornell’s written confirmation that he had not returned to his primary residence during the qualifying period;

  • Cornell’s confirmation that he did not enter Canada until March 2026;

  • Cornell’s disclosure of the two trailer transports and confirmation that no trailer mileage registered on the motorcycle’s odometer; and

  • contemporaneous social and milestone documentation.


Comparative and Cross-Archive Benchmark Review

Atlas cross-referenced the publicly available records at all major world-record organizations and conducted a wider search of historical motorcycle journeys, endurance databases, long-distance rider archives, press coverage, international claims and specialist communities.


A directly relevant published single-country motorcycle benchmark of approximately 87,050 miles was identified, along with earlier single-country results below that figure. Cornell’s 147,284-mile U.S. total exceeds that published benchmark by more than 60,000 miles.


Atlas nevertheless did not automatically adopt the terminology or unpublished rules of another registry. Research showed that definitions of “single-country journey,” route repetition and continuous travel differ among organizations and sources.


For that reason, Atlas based its certification on its own transparent, measurable criteria and avoided claiming equivalence with rules that were not part of the submitted attempt.


No credible publicly documented result exceeding 147,284 miles under the Atlas definition was identified.

Verification Methodology

Atlas established four essential facts:



First, the qualifying period began when Cornell departed on May 1, 2025.


Second, GPS and milestone documentation showed that the riding through September remained within the United States. Cornell’s later brief entry into Canada did not occur until March 2026 and therefore had no effect on this record.


Third, Cornell did not return to his primary residence until September 25.


Fourth, the motorcycle’s odometer documented 147,284 miles when that return occurred.


The Spotwalla export was analyzed as a chronological and geographic dataset rather than treated as a precision mileage meter. Atlas observed that periodically sampled GPS points naturally produce lower straight-line totals than actual roadway travel. This was confirmed by comparing the GPS calculations with mileage independently documented at the September 23 milestone.


The two disclosed trailer transports were specifically examined. Because the motorcycle’s odometer did not register mileage while transported, Atlas determined that those transfers did not inflate the 147,284-mile distance ridden metric.


They are nevertheless disclosed here because transparency requires that “journey” and “distance ridden” not be treated as interchangeable concepts.


Adjudication Findings

The evidence establishes that Cornell remained away from his primary residence from May 1 through September 25, 2025.


It establishes that the qualifying ridden mileage occurred within the United States.


It establishes 146,788 corrected miles by September 23 and an unadjusted odometer total of 147,284 upon the September 25 return home.


The benchmark investigation found no public claim exceeding Cornell’s 147,284-mile figure under the adopted Atlas criteria.


Atlas further finds that revising the proposed title away from “continuous motorcycle journey” results in a more accurate certification because it acknowledges the disclosed trailer movements without subtracting mileage that was never included in the first place.
